چکیده

Abstract Land-cover change is a critical concern due to its climatic, ecological, and socioeconomic consequences. In this study, we used multiple variables including precipitation, vegetation index, surface soil moisture, evapotranspiration obtained from different satellite sources study their association with land-cover changes in the Mediterranean region. Both observational modeling data were for climatology correlation analysis. Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) Land Data Assimilation System (FLDAS) Global (GLDAS) extract moisture data. Intercomparing results of FLDAS GLDAS suggested that had better accuracy compared coherence Climate Hazards Group Infra-Red Precipitation Station (version 2.0 final) (CHIRPS Pentad) precipitation while Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) products indices study. The detection was demonstrated during 2009–2018 period using MODIS Land-Cover Some barren crop lands Euphrates-Tigris Algeria have converted low-vegetated shrublands over time, areas Egypt’s southwestern Delta region became grasslands. These observations well explained by changing trends hydrological which showed higher values countries located east ones on west. For evapotranspiration, north lower except Europe such as Bosnia, Romania, Slovenia, Africa Egypt Libya. enhanced index appeared be decreasing south, Germany, Czechia having values, south Libya, Egypt, Iraq trends. Time series analysis selected also done understand parameters, Enhanced Vegetation Index, alternating drop rise stagnant parameters each country.

Hydrological Responses to Land Use/Cover Changes in the Olifants Basin, South Africa

This paper discusses the hydrological impacts of land use changes on the Olifants Basin in South Africa using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). A three-phase land use scenario (2000, 2007 and 2013) employing the “fix-changing” method was used to simulate the hydrology of the Olifants Basin. Changes in land uses were related to different hydrological responses through a multi-regression...

Effects of land cover changes induced by large physical disturbances on hydrological responses in Central Taiwan.

This study analyzes the significant impacts of typhoons and earthquakes on land cover change and hydrological response. The occurrence of landslides following typhoons and earthquakes is a major indicator of natural disturbance. The hydrological response of the Chenyulan watershed to land use change was assessed from 1996 to 2005. Land use changes revealed by seven remote images corresponded to...

Hierarchical Investigation of Socioeconomic Drivers of Decadal Scale Land-Cover Changes

Introduction Land cover change in the forested Upper Midwest has important economic implications in the forest products, agriculture, and recreation-tourism industries in the region, as well as scientific implications relating to carbon sequestration and habitat fragmentation as it affects biodiversity. In a study published recently, Fan et al. (1998) use climatic models to estimate that a subs...

Land use and land cover spatiotemporal dynamic pattern and predicting changes using integrated CA-Markov model

Analyzing the process of land use and cover changes during long periods of time and predicting the future changes is highly important and useful for the land use managers. In this study, the land use maps in the Ardabil plain in north-west part of Iran for four periods (1989, 1998, 2009 and 2013) are extracted and analyzed through remote sensing technique, using the land-sat satellite images. T...

Monitoring and Prediction of Land Use/Cover Changes in Shadegan International Wetland, Iran

Quantifying land use/land cover changes is essential to monitor and assess the ecological consequences of human disturbances. Ecological condition and water quality of wetlands are highly related to the landscape characteristics, including land use/land cover (LULC) types and their fractions in the upland and the surrounding landscape. The changing characteristics of LULC in Shadegan Internatio...
